Hi, my name is Mary! I'm a young writer, rabbit lover, and drawer from the great state of Texas.
I live with my large family of ten in a house filled with laughter and toy animals.
Every day is either unbelievably loud or confusingly quiet, but most of the time it's a mix of both.
My favorite genre is fantasy/adventure, but I enjoy a good mystery and any other book if it's well-written. When it comes to drawing I love the animated style best, but just like reading I like trying new styles.
When I was nine or ten years old I wanted to be an author. So well my mom was mopping the floor and my little sisters were playing I wrote the first word that came to mind.
Sealee
I know it's not a real word, but It just came to me. And that signal word became the foundation of my story.
I was terrible at spelling when I wrote that word and could only write a few small words. So while I learned how to spell I daydreamed about my fantasy world.
I came up with dozens of plots, creatures, and magical items.
Names that I had loved for so long became characters. I slowly crafted their personalities till I became satisfied that they were both unique and lovable.
After a while, I finally learned how to write pretty well. Now I'm slowly working on my story along with a few others.
Besides writing and drawing, I love reading, baking when I get the chance, playing chess and Skip-Bo, making up worlds and stories in my head, crafting fun things, hoarding little objects and items like small glass bottles and boxes, and spending time with my family.
Even though I want to be an author I desire more to be a wife and homemaker and mother, have as many children as possible, and homeschool them all *sighs with delight while thinking about it*.
I've told you plenty of important things about myself but haven't yet told you the most important one.
And that is the great God I serve!
For most of my childhood, I did not acknowledge my sinful state. I didn't care if my actions hurt others, it only mattered what it did for me. I was, and still am very sinful, as are all of us. But the difference between then and now is that, though I'm still an imperfect, sinning sinner, I have a Savior.
My Testimony is long, so I'll shorten it for now and make a blog post for it in the future (or maybe the future is already there and I already created it? Well if I've already created one then I'll probably put a link at the bottom of the post, but if I haven't made one then there won't be one... Oh why do I confuse myself so!)
While either way one time after I had finished going on a nature walk with my family I was listening to the music being played.
The song artist that was singing was Andrew Peterson and the song was "Risen Indeed".
I'd listened to this song many times, but this time the message felt new. One line especially stuck out to me. "Look at Peter racing to the tomb to see, "Where has my Jesus gone? He is not dead, he is risen, risen indeed.""
And that was when it struck me. Everything I had been taught about the Gospel was true and is true. That was the beginning of my journey to salvation, it was long and hard. I dealt with the realization that I was such a wicked sinner. And for so long I wondered how God could love me.
But then, one night while I was crying over my sin, my older sister came in. She handed me a book called "Little Pillows, Morning Bells, and Morning Stars" by Frances Ridley Havergal.
For the past few days, I had been reading this little book. It was meant for young children and told of the promises of the Gospel, it was one of my greatest comforts during this time.
I opened it up and began reading. I'm not sure what part I exactly read, but I remember afterward understanding, that though I am a sinner, that's why God sent his only Son.
To live a perfect life for us, then die on the cross, bearing the wrath of God that we deserved, and bearing our sin. He was buried and then rose on the third day. He was seen by many people, then ascended into heaven, and is ruling and reigning.
After this, I felt no longer sad, but joyful.
Well, that turned out longer than expected, but it happens to the best of us.
Farewell, dear friend! And God bless!
